A Peculiar Snow White Fish !

The amazing beauty !

While searching /prospecting of common carp brooders in our usual netting operations of the season confined to cemented water channels of forest department in Sarnath the Famous Buddhist pilgrimage ,Varanasi we encountered this milk white fish hitherto not seen and reported from the region.
We know that this is a member of the species -Cyprinus carpio communis -the Common Carp fish, native of China but the colour of the fish is just amazing. In last 25 years of my service in Fisheries department I have not seen this completely white coloured common carp any where in my extensive tours of many parts of India.

A fish in hand is better than many in pond !
Whether this is an albino variety or a genetic trait /dominant combo of some recessive genes or result of inbreeding depression is not clear as yet.Since the ongoing month ie February is its breeding season in India we are planning to induce it to breed. And a planned breeding strategy including even many successive generation may only clarify if it is really a genetic variety.
Dr.R .P .Raman , a senior scientist in Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) Mumbai when contacted on this curious phenomenon told that chances of finding this kind of albino/genetic common carp is really very rare .

in water tub .......
Further input about this rare form of common carp from any source would be highly appreciated and acknowledged.

If this happens to be an undiscovered species, then it should be named immediately.

Indian scientists should get their due for the work they do.
